FREE OVERTURE PERFORMANCES FOR FAMILIES

Event schedule

SATURDAYS OCTOBER - APRIL

For visitors looking for indoor activities during the cooler weather, Kids in the Rotunda is a fantastic option.

Thanks to the support of generous sponsors, Kids in the Rotunda is a free event for families at the stunning Overture Center. Each show features a performance by a local, regional, or national act chosen to appeal to kids under ten. And it's an array of art - dancers, jugglers, clowns, singers, musicians - it's always something new and creative. The 2016-2017 season kicks off October 1 with a multicultural, interactive drum experience.

After the show you can stop by the Madison Public Library across the street for special art activities and book displays inspired by the day's Kids in the Rotunda performance or walk two blocks to the Madison Children's Museum where there's always tons to do.

Madison Insider Tips

  • There are three shows each Saturday (9:30, 11, and 1:30). None of the shows are less crowded than the others. Plan to go early. Kids in the Rotunda is held in an area where you sit on large padded steps which kids love to climb on to stay occupied before the show.

  • The 1:30 show is sign language interpreted. For those who don't need the service, it's a good opportunity to expose your kids to the beauty of music and song in ASL.

  • If you're visiting Madison and the Overture Center during the holidays be sure to have your picture taken in front of the lights in the rotunda lobby. Most of us have a selfie or two in front of them.
